Technical Ceramics – Material Overview
Steatite
Steatite is a ceramic material based on magnesium silicate. It is produced from soapstone, clay, and feldspar. Depending on the composition, it can achieve high mechanical strength and electrical insulation. With additional additives, low high-frequency losses are possible.
Cordierite
Cordierite is characterized by a very low thermal expansion coefficient, good temperature change resistance, and high thermal stability up to 1280°C or higher. It is ideal for rapid temperature changes, while its high electrical insulation is utilized in electrotechnical applications.
Aluminium Oxide
Aluminum oxide is produced from highly pure aluminum oxide powder through molding and subsequent sintering. Depending on the purity grade, it achieves very high mechanical strength, excellent wear resistance, and outstanding electrical insulation. With optimized microstructure, it also offers high thermal stability and good thermal conductivity.
